Summer of Theatrical Choas!!!

Hello my merry Bloggers,
It has been a hectic month for yours truly. June 16 to July 9th was the run of Careless Love at Hunger Artists. Directed by the wonderful Glendele Way-Agle (whom I worked with on Marat.Sade and have become good friends with), Careless was an orgy of surreality. To give you an idea (if you didn’t see it), I played a Tumbleweed seeking flesh to possess (paired with Tony, we both rode around the stage on oversized Razor Scooters). Next I was a Christian actor portraying a worshipper of Ba’al. Then Tony & I became Gargoyles on a Balcony. After that we return as parts of the Amazing Airmobile. Later we portrayed Pineapple Field (with matching pineapple shirts and spiny gloves).
We returned in order as the Airmobile, Christian Actors and finally our big finish as the Tumbleweeds.
Mind you, I’m leaving out the great performances from the rest of our cast:
Jason Lythgoe as the Plastic Surgeon
Darcy Lythgoe as Marie
Kimi Mitchell as Mama Wong
James Grant as Jacky
Jeremy Gable as Bobby & Arnie & the Keytarist
Scott Derrell as The Prophet Elijah
Ellis Davis as Lounge Spinger Spin Milton
Amber Scott as Lounge Singer Marlene Milton
Brey Barrett as The Elevator Girl
And
Katie Chidester as The Actress

Wow. OK. Needless to say, it was a crazy show.
To compound the craziness, I was asked to be in the Capistrano Shakespeare Festival’s production of Macbeth. Melissa Petro was directing. I worked with Melissa on Dead Letter Office last year (she directed a scene & a monologue I was in) and Guignol X (She ripped my intestines out on stage). I didn’t think I was going to have time, since I was already in Careless Love. Then she told me that James was in both. Well, if James can do it, I guess I can too!
Well, it turned out that Macbeth was opening on July 14th. 5 days after Careless Love was closing. I was only playing a small role, Seyton, Macbeth’s right-hand man. Not many lines, but a lot of stuff. So, pretty much since Careless opened I have been either Rehearsing for Macbeth or performing Careless Love every single night. I’ve never done shows on top of each other like this before. It’s been madcap. Not to mention that Macbeth is in San Juan Capistrano. That’s a pretty healthy drive from Garden Grove. Every night. My monthly gas expenditures has tripled this month. And it’s only the 18th!
But, I’ll tell you this: I don’t regret it. Once I heard about the cast of Macbeth, I had no choice but to accept.

Mark Palkoner as Macbeth
Mark Coyan as Banquo
John Beane as MacDuff
Alex Walters as Porter
Jami McCoy & Jenn Carnett as Witches
James Grant as Ross

That’s a Hell of a cast. I knew I would regret it if I didn’t do this show. So, I have been a mad man for the last couple of weeks. But we just opened and it was awesome. It’s a great show, lots of people are coming to see it and I’ve gotten to work with a great group of people I would not have gotten to know
Bridget, Norm, JC, Alex Lopez, Larissa, Troy and the kids, Ryan & Shawn. (I don’t have my program and I know I’m forgetting people…)

Well, we have 2 more weekends. Come check us out:
